New Window Not working (IE 6 / Win XP)

Between this morning and this evening, my Ctr-n (new Window) and the "open link in new window do not seem to work "correctly"

The open a window (as expected, with no "Back button" as they did in the past), but they close the previous window. So essentially it is worse than just going to a new page since I am still stuck with only one window, but I can't go back.

My family claims to have not anything abnormal today, but you neve know.
I did find with search <post#=164214>post 164214</post#>, which seemed related, I did the recommendations, rebooted, but no change.

    Any ideas?

Problem solved - I Posted too soon.

I had run Ad-Aware and Spybot and that fixed nothing.

I did just run HijackThis and found some items for "yahoo companion" which I deleted and it seemed to fix the problem

Maybe this will help someone else, later.

Wow, Yahoo companion huh? I would not have thought Yahoo would be one to blow up a browser, but then IE is so easy to break anyway...

I don't recall, but there were some other "new" things in the hijackthis list which I deleted, so it is possibly something else. I didn't pay that much attention to it.

I get rid of the "new things" I find unless it looks like something I know I put on. I usually can tell what the kids install, too so I can watch for those.
