    IIS 6.0 for....

I would like to add IIS to my Windows 2000 PC. Release 5.0 is for 2000 and 5.01 is for Win XP. Would someone let me know if I can use release 6.0 on Win 2000? I am figuring that 6.0 is more secure.

I have searched the maze of microsoft and I have yet to see anything about the system requirments for that release. But there is a lot of info out there. Also is release 6.0 stable? Secure?

    Thanks.

They do not make it easy to find a straight answer to this question. You can explore from either of these points and see if you do better than I did:

    Try Internet Information Services 6.0
Windows Server 2003> Technology Centers> Internet Information Services

    Hi Mark,

I believe my question was on IIS 6.0 (Internet Information Services). If you have any info on that it would be appreciated.

Oh my goodness!! My apologies - I read so quickly sometimes that accuracy is sacrificed! <img src=/S/sorry.gif border=0 alt=sorry width=15 height=15>

As far as I know, IIS 6 is ONLY for Windows Server 2003.

You can download the IIS 6.0 Manager for Windows XP, but that doesn't give you the actual server capabilities.

Unfortunately, the best answer I could find is no.

Thanks for the two links. I'll explore them and see what I come up with. I know IIS 6.0 is part of Windows Server 2003 but I want to download and use IIS 6.0 on my PC to (hopefully) do some web coding and testing. At this point, I don't need a full blown Server. I'll see what I can find on these links. Thanks again.

Thanks Mark. If that is the case, it looks like my best bet is to use IIS 5.0 for personal development on my on Win 2000 PC. I was hoping they would have a personal web server type to do that but it looks like they don't. Thanks again.
