    .pst recovery (outlook XP)

    Hi,

I recently deleted a massive .pst file (1.7Gb) which had around 2 years worth of mail that i need. I recovered the file using an undelete program but outlook would not recognise it as a .pst file.

I tried using the inbox repair tool scanpst.exe, but to no avail.

Can anyone suggest another route to follow?

    TIA,

    David Aitchison

To repair a damaged Personal Folders PST file from the Outlook specialist site SlipStick includes links to 3rd party tools for recovering .pst files. These tools are not free.

This Google search gives other possibilities.

Not directly of help with your problem, but note that Outlook 2002 still has about a 2GB PST file size limit, <!mskb=296088>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 296088<!/mskb> and <!mskb=288283>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 288283<!/mskb>, so if you recover all your data, you need to archive some out or split your PST.
