Number of Fields allowed in report (2000/2003)

What is the maximum number of fields you can have in a report? Keep getting a too many records error when trying to use the report wizard to create a report from 2 tables.

The record source of a report is a table or query; this can have up to 255 fields. But the Report Wizard can't handle that many fields, it becomes too complicated for the Wizard to handle well below the 255 field limit, especially if more than one table is involved. You can still design the report manually.

    Other considerations:
    - All fields combined (excluding memo and OLE fields) cannot exceed 2000 characters.
    - You can add a maximum of 754 controls to a report over its lifetime. Once you reach that limit, even removing controls won't help, you won't be able to add new controls any more.

    I also answer a lot of questions in the Excel forum. <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

But seriously, I manage to do things outside the Lounge (away from computers) too...

You can find many of these limits yourself my looking up "Specifications" in Access Help.

Thanks to all for the answers. "Specifications" is probably the only term I didn't think of looking for in help.
