    Scheduled Tasks (XP Home SP1)

No problem this time, just a question.

Why can't we see if a schedluled task has run like was possible in Win98/SE? At least, I can't.

Does it show up in the Event Viewer?
(Administrative Tools > Event Viewer... probably under Applications.)

Control Panel>Scheduled Tasks - RIGHT click on the bar directly above the list of tasks "Name, Schedule, etc." and make sure "Last Run Time" is checked.

He's right, you know! (Although it would be surprising if the Last Run Time column was NOT displayed...).

On many suchlike programs (like Windows Explorer) this "right-click anywhere on the column headers line" (preferably to the right of the right-most displayed column) will give a drop-down menu of the columns you can choose to display.

There's no mention of the task any where on the list.. Thanks for mentioning it, I hadn't thought to check there.

Re: Scheduled Tasks (XP Home SP1)

I had to right click directly on the bar that said Names, Scheduled, etc and every thing listed's checked.

Is the task listed? Is the 'Last Run Time' column there but empty? Can you post a screen shot?

Re: Scheduled Tasks (XP Home SP1)

I'm sorry Joe, but I've remove the scheduled task because of password and user name problems.
See my earlier post today to John Gray, for an explaination.

Re: Scheduled Tasks (XP Home SP1)

I do believe that I have become confused about what you're looking for exactly, so let me start at the top and explain.

I removed the scheduled task because it asked for a user name and password. Having chosen neither, I gave up and deleted the task, which I'll run manually.

I hope this answers your question and clears up my confusion about what exactly you were looking for.

Re: Scheduled Tasks (XP Home SP1)

To run a scheduled task with XP you have to specify at least a userid. Without a registry modifcation you also need a password. See Windows XP A to Z Task Scheduling under the 'T' section.
