Changing Default Mail Program (SP 1)

When I click File/Send To..., by default Outlook Express comes up. I only use Outlook. How can I tell Windows, or whatever, to use Outlook?

Thank you, but...at the risk of being a cad: No, no, no. I despise Outlook Express and Internet Explorer equally! This must be a Windows default because from the Paint (Paintbrush) program, I get OE as the default Send To.

In Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options...
Do you have Outlook set as the default action for mailto?

Actually, I think you will find that if you change the setting in Internet Options as Telo noted, the behaviour will change across Windows. Internet Explorer is so heavily integrated into Windows that changing a setting in its options can have system-wide ramifications.

Interesting, though, that Outlook did not register itself as the default mail program when you installed it.

With any luck, you can access the Internet Options dialog from the control panel, and not even have to start up IE. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Along with the changes mentioned you can also go to "Set Program Access and Defaults" in the add/remove section of the Control Panel.

Can you go to Outlook Express>Tools>Accounts>Mail.
If Outlook isn't listed there you can click Add and list outlook. Then click set as default?
If it IS listed, then just highlight it and click "set as default".

You were right--along with the others who pointed back to you. Other ways may help also.
I didn't know IE options would even ALLOW for non Microsoft products. How uncharacteristically unmonopolistic of them. :-)
