    Excel File Type (2000)

    Hi,

One of my users has saved an excel spreadsheet this morning, but when she clicks the file menu to browse recently opened files, she has the same file dsplayed twice, only in this format:

    file.xls:1
    file.xls:2

Can anyone tell me when these mean?

    TIA,

    David Aitchison

    Re: Excel File Type (2000)

Do you mean that the file is listed twice in the File menu, or that it is listed twice in the Window menu once it is opened? The former is unusual, the latter means that a second window has been opened on the same workbook through Window | New Window. To get rid of it, click the close button in the upper right corner of the document window (not the close button in the upper right corner of the Excel application window!), then save the workbook. Next time, it will open with one window.
