Search app really bites; Suggesitons please

I just tried to search my network for a very specific word file. The win2000 search application gave me a score of files from which to choose (including numerous JPG's!). I'm throwing in the towel with this dog. The question now is, what should I use instead?

What "terns" did you use to search on? The key to any search is to use the word(s) that will do the best for what you are searching for.

Also did you search on the file name or content of file?

I forget the name of the file I was looking for, but say for the sake of argument I was looking for the specific file Work Process-Catch-up Match.doc. I know for a fact that there's only one such file on the drive. The app came back with all sorts of weird stuff, including, as I mentioned, JPG's.

I have not used 2K for some time, give us a screen shot of your "Search pane" with some of the words that you search on. Some times when using the search and there are spaces in the file fine, the search is searching ob those single words and report all file names that contain any of these words.

Try adding quotation marks around the file name and see if that makes a difference (viz "Work Process-Catch-up Match.doc", for example).
