    Use header in TOC (2002)

Is it possible to get a Table of Contents to use the text in the header as part of the TOC? If a document has sections, I want Word to pick up the text in the first page of each section for the TOC. Thanks, Andy.

If by 'header' you mean 'page header', the answer is no. Since a page header might be displayed on more than one page, Word would not be able to determine the page number. You will have to put the text you want at the beginning of each section, preferably in a heading style. You can put a cross reference to this text in the page header of the section. The table of contents can pick up the heading style in the normal way.
