Cannot access IE6 from Email (6.0.2)

When I click on a link from my word processor or email program, nothing happens. I have to copy the address, go to IE6 put it in the Address bar and click "Go" before it will work.

Which word processor and e-mail program are you using, and which version of each?

In Word 2002, for example, the default is that you have to Ctrl+click on a hyperlink to activate it. This can be changed in the Edit tab of Tools | Options... ('Use CTRL + Click to follow hyperlink')

    What version of Word?
The later version the default is to "Control click" unless you change it in Tools Options and then Edit tab.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Wordprocessor: Word Perfect 12. I've had no problems until I installed another browser (Mozelle Firebird I think), decided I didn't like it and removed it.
I am using IncrediMail, but it too was working until uninstalled Mozelle Firebird.

Re: Cannot access IE6 from Email (6.0.2)

There is an option in Internet Explorer's options to have IE re-establish itself as the default browser. I would try that first; it's a checkbox at the bottom of the Programs tab under Tools>Internet Option... Close all IE windows and start it up again and see if that refreshes the URL setting. If not, there was a thread recently (perhaps the one linked above) on where this is in the File Types dialog. Hope that helps.

In version 11, if you go to "Alt+F12" (settings) and then environment you should find a check box for like "Click on for hyperlink". So it should be the same in version 12.

Re: Cannot access IE6 from Email (6.0.2)

Thanks fellows. I tried several things suggested, but the one where I was told to go to the command prompt and type in a particular phrase is the one that did it. Thanks for the help. I put the instructions in a safe place so when it happens again, I can dig it out and follow it.

Could you tell us what the "particular phrase" was that solved the problem? It might be helpful to others who may experience this problem Thanks.

    Go to Tools in IE6
    Click Internet Options
    Click Program Tab
Make sure the check mark is in the box about making IE6 the default browser.
In the Reset Web Setting dialog box, click to clear the Also reset my home page check box.
    Close all dialog boxes.
    Click Start
    Click Run
Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll and then click OK.
Click OK to acknowledge the success of the urlmon.dll registration.
Go to email and click on a URL - in my case it worked.
    Thanks,
    Ray
