    XL 97 Calculation Error

I am attaching a sample spreadsheet that I am having problems with. In Cell AF28, I have an IF formula that should be returning a value, based on the average of a column and a row, but is returning FALSE instead. Cells AF28 and AG29 each contain a formula averaging the row and column referenced in AF28's formula. They return a value. Please tell me why this calc doesn't return a value. I have highlighted two rows (yellow) that seem to affect the FALSE value. But, I don't know why.

Thank you for helping with this. This is one spreadsheet out of 30. About 10 of them don't work correctly, but the other 20 work fine. I can't figure out why the incorrect ones don't work.

    Re: XL 97 Calculation Error

I would suggest you use something like =IF(ROUND(AVERAGE(AF3:AF26),2)=ROUND(AVERAGE(C28:A D28),2),AVERAGE(AF3:AF26),"FALSE") as the values you are comparing do not for some reason match exactly. They evaluate as follows:

    93.5008928571429
    93.5008928571428

    Hope that helps

You're right. I had a feeling it had something to do with a rounding problem, but I never tested it with the ROUND function - guess I didn't think through it far enough. Thanks so much for your help.
