'Enter Username: Enter Password:' Message (6)

    Hi,

I keep getting message "Enter Username: Enter Password:" come up on the screen in a box.

This is slowing down sending and retrieving emails in outlook express.
Is there any way to resolve this problem , apart from keep clicking on ok all the time?
I have had this problem in the past but it has gone away but now it is appearing all the time.

    Justin.

    Hi Justin,

Checking through the Microsoft support site this sort of problem relates to the registry containing incorrect information for the Protected Storage System Provider. The problem registry key is:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftProtected Storage System Provider

    Hi Tony,

I am curious as to how this problem occured , possibly spyware?
I am hesitant in editing the registry , would be possible re-install of outlook express be a solution.
Or if not use another email package such as one with Firefox?
    What do you think?

    Justin.

    Hi Justin,

How this sort of problem occurs is a mystery though I don't think it is related to spyware. Re-installing IE/Outlook Express may help (if using Windows XP see MSKB 318378
Mozillas latest e-mail/newsreader package is called Thunderbird. I have not used extensively but it does seem to be quite a good package.
