    can't convert (Access 2002)

One of our support people just got a Access 97 database (password protected) that the user can't convert in Access 2002 even after supplying the password. A message results like ' the current user account doesn't have permissions to convert or enable this database'.

so I'm guessing there was some workgroup security in place.

What can we do to get the data make for the user?

    TIA,

    Jimmy Lee

Without the MDW file that goes with it, you have major challenges if the database was really properly secured. One possibility is to import the objects from the database into another database - if it was properly secured however, you won't be able to do that. There are services that will do that kind of thing for a very handsome sum of money, but it basically involves hacking the file using file inspection tools and is quite laborious.

    Hi Wendell,

I ended up importing the db objects into a new db; the users were happy that they got their data.

It was a good learning opportunity for me.

    Thanks for replying,
