    Count Em Up (Excel 2K)

    Afternoon All,

    Column A contains Names
    Column B contains Dates
    Column C needs to contain a count similar to the following:

    =COUNTA(IF(A2<>"")*(B2>8/1/2004))

    or

    =SUMPRODUCT(IF(A2<>"")*(B2>8/1/2004))

    But I'm not having any luck. If fails each time on <>"". I suspect it's because I'm doing an if statement and another problem is with text and dates.

    Bottom line .... if there is data in A2 and the Date in B2 is greater than 8/1/04 then count ..... furthermore the count should only be 1 ....not 2 .
    Can someone please shed a little light here?

    Thanks,
    Roberta Price <img src=/S/cheers.gif border=0 alt=cheers width=30 height=16>

    Re: Count Em Up (Excel 2K)

    Hi Roberta

    Try the following:

    <code>=(A2<>"")*(B2>DATE(2004,8,1))</code>

    The result for this is 1 if A2 <> "" and B2 > August 1st 2004, otherwise the result is 0
