Can I run two (different) versions of Office? (97 & XP)

Right now, I am running two different machines, one running Office 97 and the other running Office XP. I need to continue running Office 97 because it does some things well that I cannot do at all in Office XP. (Specifically, pasting with XML into FrontPage.)

I have ordered a new computer with Windows XP. If there is a way to run both Office 97 and Office XP on the same machine without conflicts, I could scrap both of these machines. Do anyone know if it

Running Multiple Versions of Microsoft Office is Microsoft's view of this.

One limitation is that you can only have one version of Outlook installed.

I'm curious about the XML pasting. What happened in FrontPage 2002 to break whatever you were doing? Or should I say, what are you doing that doesn't work in FP02?

No problems with multiple versions of office - except that you can only have one outlook - just remember to install them to different folders

Re: Can I run two (different) versions of Office?

I use FrontPage 97 but the problem is not with FrontPage itself. The documents I create are then posted in WebCT, a specialized education program. It does not display the documents correctly when they contain XML. A related, but minor, problem is that when I paste my grades from Excel XP into a web page, Excel XP does not feed the cell background color into FrontPage (I use red for light red for missed assignments); however, Excel 97 handles this just fine.

Thanks. I don't use Outlook at all so that should not be a problem.

Gotcha. I remember, with fondness, the simple HTML that Office 97 used to generate. I understand the Office 2000-XP problem completely. (And I remember our thread on the Excel problem.)
