Send/Receive on Startup (2000)

I've looked all over but cannot find where (if anywhere) you specify that Outlook should execute a Send/Receive command upon starting up Outlook. Am I missing something here?

What are you wanting Outlook to do on start up?
A) Check for mail?
Send mail?
C) Check and Send mail?
D) NOT check for mail?
E) NOT send mail?
F) NOT semd or check mail?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

It should do it for you if you have it check on a schedule (e.g., every 5 minutes). I don't remember where this was on Outlook 2000, sorry.

Check for mail.

Actually, there is another problem that may be related. When Outlook starts up, it doesn't cause the computer to start the dial up connection. Presently the procedure is to first open the Internet connection (ATTglobal), then open Outlook, then click on Send/receive to get Outlook to poll for new messages. All of the dial up properties are set up right in Outlook, but it doesnt initiate the connection when it opens.

What are the settings for the email account in the Connections pane?

Connect using phone line, and the text box lists ATTGlobal.

This is a friend's machine that I'm attempting to fix, and I did not set up the original dial-up connection. Do you think I should remove the email account and reinstall it?
