Move to A2003 from A2000 (A2003)
I've just obtained Access 2003 but my work still have A2000.
Can A2003 .mde databases just be saved in A2003 and work OK with A2000 machines (BE will remain A2000 .mdb)? Can I have both A2003 and A2000 installed on the same machine? Anything I need to know before installing?

Re: Move to A2003 from A2000 (A2003)
a) If you want two versions of Office on the same PC, you must always install from old to new, and you must install each version in a separate folder. So if your new PC has Office 2003 installed, you will have to uninstall it, then install Office 2000, and finally reinstall Office 2003. Office 2003 uses a different folder than Office 2000 by default, so that should not be a problem. Note: you can have only one version of Outlook on your PC, I would choose Outlook 2003.
Access 2000 cannot open Access 2003 .mdb or .mde databases. If you want to be able to switch, you will have to save all your databases in Access 2000 .mdb format; you cannot create a database in Access 2000 .mde format with Access 2003.
c) For use on your home PC, you can use an Access 2003 frontend with an Access 2000 backend.
