Does not find partnership after reboot

I have just set up an Anextek GSM PDA with Pocket PC 2003 and Active Sync 3.7.
Twice now I have set up a partnership with different names (because the second time it said the name I choose was already in use). After a reboot, the "Set up a new Partnership " wizard appears and if I opt out of that it defaults to guest.
I can't find a way to get it to recognise either of the partnerships I have already set set up?

Some clues as to why this might be happening or where I should be looking would be appreciated.

What OS is being used on the desk top? And tell us more about it.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

From memory --- In the Activesynch window go File|MobileDevices, and you should see a list of devices AS know about.
