    Audio Driver Wanted

My son has a pair of polk audio stereo speakers (cubes) that appear to need audio drivers. We can hardly hear the windows startup sound with the volume setting turned up. If I unplug the speakers from the motherboard and plug in the monitor speakers the sound is just fine. Therefore my conclusion is that I need to find the audio drivers for the speakers. I did not have any luck searching various driver sites or polk audio.

I have never heard of polk audio speakers for a desktop computer.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    John

What is the sound like once the system is fully booted?

To my knowledge, there are no speaker drivers. Are these speakers designed specifically for a PC (or PC audio card) or are they speakers that are designed to be driven by a pre-amp/amp combination (ie. regular stereo setup)? If so, it is highly unlikely that the output from a sound card is sufficient to drive them.

I agree with Rebel - I suspect your monitor speakers will be driven by an amplifier within the monitor, which should be confirmed by there being a volume control on the monitor itself.
If these 'polk' are standard hi-fi speakers, they will definitely need an external amplifier.
