    Website for service pack 2?

    Hello,

Does anyone know of any sites where l can download service pack 2 for Windows 98?
Service pack 1 works ok on my PC but it does not recognise the USB 2 port?
Any help / advice would be appreciated.

    Justin.

    Hello ,

I am using Windows 98 , not special edition.
When l am impying the USB device is not detected l am implying USB 2 port is not detected.
    USB 1 works fine.
    Any ideas?

    Justin.

    Hi Justin

Microsoft has only released USB 2 drivers for Windows XP and 2000. You will need to check with the supplier of the USB 2 card for a Windows 98 driver.

    Hi,

The USB2 port works on service pack 2 but will work on service pack 1.
But l need to do a re-install (due to another problem) but do not have a copy of service pack 2.
Do you know of another solution?

    Justin.

    I'm afraid I still can't find a reference to an SP2 for Windows 98.
Softwarepatch.com seem to have everything else available...

It seems to me that if you do a "Windows Update," go to the MS update site and "take" all the updates they offer there, then that's all there is my friend. I don't think there are any secret ones sitting around someplace. On a parallel note, I just recently installed a copy of Win98SE and did just that, so I consider the OS completely updated. Don't know where you're getting the reference to SP2...

Re: Website for service pack 2?

I assume this will update Windows 98 to the latest version , as l have version 1 at the moment and require version 2.
SP2 is the update l require for Windows 98 in order for the USB 2 ports to work.
If l do as you mention l assume it will update Windows 98 to Service pack 2?

Justin, this is getting a tad hard to understand. Will you please tell ONE of us where you're getting this version 1 and version 2 stuff. It should be obvious from the posts thus far that we have no idea what you're talking about. I am only familiar with Win98 and Win98SE and as near as I can see from the details available on my system, none of the updates I have installed is referred to as a "service pack."

Re: Website for service pack 2?

    Hi Justin,

Using Windows Update will give you all of the updates available for Windows 98 but there has not been a service pack 2 for Windows 98.
Microsoft have not released USB 2 drivers for Windows 98 so you will require 3rd party drivers from the company that supplied your USB 2 card. When you got the card it would have come with a CD, check this CD for the drivers. If you have no CD then check the web site for the company that manufactured the USB 2 card for Windows 98 drivers.

Re: Website for service pack 2?

Can you do a quick check on the system with SP2 installed, please?

    From Start > Run, enter
    winver
and report back what it says?

From the command prompt (Dos), enter
    ver
and report back what it says?

Single-click My Computer (to select it) and press Alt+Enter
and report back what it says?

    Thanks
