Sonic buys Roxio - good or bad?

Hot off the press is this information.

I couldn't care less about the "Napster" side of things - but will EasyCD Creator still continue to provide something to compare with Nero?

Official press release is at both Roxio and Sonic web sites, e.g.:

IMHO, EMC 7 was better than Nero 6/InCD/etc., and Roxiio at least attempted to provide support via its online forums.

The only Sonic product I've used is BUMP (BackUpMyPC). Last I checked Sonic was delegating support to the resellers such as Stomp and Orlogix.
Stomp dropped their online form some time ago and I've gotten no response to email sent to Stomp.

As owner of the product Sonic has a responsibility to control the available support and.more importantly, to not needlessly decentralize support.
Don't know what Sonic does to support other products. I'm scared to find out.

John,
I've been using Roxio products for a number of years on my Mac . I was dismayed when I learned that they were evolving into something else under the name of Napster which, unless you are under 20 years, has the connotation of . Equally I didn't see there business model of 'leasing' music as being very substainable. Their music venture hasn't been very successful.

However by spinning off the software arm we can hope that they will continue to develop and update their products
