Time doesn't always refresh

I usually have several forums open at the same time & have a couple of them refresh automatically. However, after the refresh (which correctly updates the "read" folder colors), the time is sometimes about 3 minutes slow. e.g. if it's 11:08 AM on both the Word Clock & my computer, a page will show 11:05 AM immediately after it's refreshed. Other times it's right on the money. Has anyone else noticed this (or am I just in a time warp)?

P.S. I have my browser (Firefox 0.9) set to refresh each time the page differs from the cache, rather than with each visit.

I have not seen it occur on this side Phil. I am using IE6, without any time delays!

Thanks for responding. Today it isn't happening. I really think sometimes I'm in a time warp.

Ya know, if you hadn't said that I probably wouldn't have thought to make this post, Phil. When I saw the time of your post, I refreshed the page and checked the time against my clock and it was right on the money. My clock is kept up to date with About Time and the time on The Lounge pages has been "different" by a few minutes for so long, I stopped thinking about it. To be honest about it, I never noticed it until we switched to the new server and had a few initial problems with time and the time offset.

I also don't know if it matters what screen you're looking at. For instance, I just hit the Preview button and the Lounge time updated, but is now a minute slower than my PC clock. I don't know, but I don't imagine it's important enough to worry about.

    Re: Time doesn't always refresh

Is the time at the top of our lounge pages in "real time" meaning does it change with every second? That doesn't appear to be what happens. And I am not sure how it could?

The way it works for me is this. The time will be correct on the page when I first view it and then as I read over the page, of course the time will stay the same as it was when I 'clicked' on the link. I can spend several minutes reading an entire thread so my "page" time can be different by as much as 5 minutes more or less. And then to add to this, I use Firefox, so I open several pages using the tabbed method and they all may be indicating a time of perhaps 10 minutes behind "the right time" but they will show the time that I did open them up. Now, when I refresh any page, the time will be correct again.

So for example - I loaded this page at 8:07 and it is now 8:14 on my computer clock. long time trying to put my thoughts into words and being sure it is correct in spelling, etc. Now I am going to "preview" my page so this will "refresh" it. And yes, the time is now 8:15 at the top of the page and it matches my computer clock exactly. I cannot see how it could be any other way? Isn't that the way it works for the rest of the loungers? How else could it be?

Okay Mr. Gray, that is my post for the day!

    Re: Time doesn't always refresh

I seem to remember that this is one reason Mummy warned against working in multiple windows at once.

For what it's worth, the clock seems to update and then stop when I open a window like the reply window, and the post time is the time I opened the window, not the current clock time. How important is this?

I take that back, the time that shows at the top of the window doesn't get updated, but the post time seems to be current.
