Search set to search ONLY certain pages

I would like to set up a search box that would only search certain areas of my site. For example: Search for topics in the FAQ list, would only search faq pages. I have about 15 pages set aside for FAQ (each one having it's own subject). I would like the search to ONLY search and show results from those FAQ pages. Thanks.

    It's been a while since I've worked with this - but the short answer is no. <img src=/S/nope.gif border=0 alt=nope width=15 height=15>
I don't believe that you can control where you search using the search component that comes with front page (anyone is welcome to prove me wrong) its default behaviour is to search the entire fp website. However, I believe that more sophisticated searching tools - which are configured at the server - CAN be controlled with more finesse.

I wanted to be able to do the same thing on my company's Intranet site. The only way I was able to get this to work was to turn my FAQ's pages into a subweb. You'll have to put all FAQ pages into one folder (if they aren't already), then right-click on the folder and select Convert to Web.

You will have to tell the search form to search only in This Web. It isn't ideal, but it works.

BINGO! I didn't think of that myself. Good idea. Thanks.

You can actually do this without converting folders to subwebs, I believe. Just put all of the the docs you want to be able to search in a single folder "FAQs" or whatever. Then on your page, go to Insert, Component, Search Form and on the Search Results tab, select the "Directory" radio button. Type in the name of your directory (FAQs) there. Save the page in the main directory (at the same level as the FAQs folder) and you should have no problems. You can do this with more than one collection of pages. Hope that helps!
