Option Buttons (Excel 97 SR-2)

I have added a group box with 4 option buttons inside. This works fine. I have linked these buttons to one cell. When I pick an option button the number for that button appears in the linked cell. I thought it might be the "print object" in the format control but it happens where this is checked or not. What am I doing wrong?

Sorry, I'll try to be a little clearer. Each option button has a value (this may not be the correct term), the first one is 1, the second is 2, and so on. When any of the option buttons are checked, the corresponding value shows in the linked cell. So if I check the fourth option button, a 4 shows in the linked cell.

This is not what I want to happen. All I want is the option button to be checked. I have linked to a cell so I use this in a formula. I will try to attach an example of what I am talking about.

I also don't understand what it is that you don't want to happen, but if you do not want cell A1 linked to the buttons, select any one of the button controls and delete the link reference (right click ans select Format Control, highlight the Cell Link reference in the Control tab, and press delete), then delete the contents of cell A1, and your link will be gone.

Hi,
If I understand you correctly, you want the functionality of the linked cell (i.e. to be able to use the value of the option buttons in a formula) but you don't want to see the value in the cell (e.g. for printing purposes)? If so, I would suggest you either use a cell in a hidden column or format the font of the linked cell white.

If you don't want the cell value to change when you activate the option button, do not link the control to the worksheet. ie, dont assign a value to the linked cell!

This is exactly what I am trying to do. Sorry my explanation was not clear. Thanks to everyone for their help.
