Re: Spybot not responding

You and I have the same setup (cable,etc.). 3 minutes (or less) to run Spybot...2 minutes (or less) to run Ad-Aware.
Maybe you have something corrupted in the v.1.3 version, or something checked off/not checked off in the various sections of that software program??? Something is sure slowing your scan down.
BTW, by 'clean' , what area are we talking about...after it finds things, then just stops...or what?
As for upgrading to XP...not me! I will keep my good, ole pal ME

Re: Spybot not responding

Hmmm, maybe I do have something wrong. I've just run Spybot S&D and timed it. The program took 8 minutes 26 seconds to complete it's scan - and found no threats. I'm running a 933 mhz Intel processor w/384 megs ram and 2 120 gig hard drives. While this is not the fastest setup in the world it by no means is a skimpy system.
Seeing as how this is the only program showing any type of problem, I'm just going to sit back and see what develops in the coming weeks.
Thanks for sharing your info.

Not fast? I have an eMachines 633idTower w/256RAM, 633MHz, 1-20GB HDD w/18GB free !
BTW...when doing your scan...is it showing 16821 as the number of baddies that the program has in it's database?
In any case, just wait a week or so and see what happens.

Re: Spybot not responding

Yep, exactly 16821.. I know I'm current on my updates.. And the slow scan/fixings didn't really start until I upgraded to the 1.3 version (when that first came out - three - four weeks ago?)..
At first I figured it was an incompatibility with WinME, but now I'm not sure...
At least it's only that one program that's affecting me.. the rest of my system seems to be running fine..

Gee, I just realized that 'this is the way to raise my level' on this board.. just post away... <g>..

Well, all I can say is 'just grin and bear it' ...the rest of your programs work great and that's all that matters.
Maybe later in the month or even in September, you can uninstall Spybot, then re-install it again...just to see if the same thing happens. As long as Spybot is doing its' job (albet slowly), just keep on using it.
As to 'raising your level'...I've been a member for 4+ years...and it will be quite awhile before I get to the next level...just keep on posting your questions, replying to others...and I'm sure you will steadily 'raise' too!
