    Data Validation (Office XP)

    Hi

This may be a stupid question, but is it possible to use data validation to insert a gif instead of text or numbers?

Data validation is used to check user input, and issue a warning if necessary. It doesn't insert anything into a cell.

Can you explain what you want to accomplish?

Do you want to use Data Validation to prevent a graphic from being entered or to allow a graphic in a cell or range? Could you be more specific on what you want to validate?

Not completely correct. If you select List in Data Valadation, then what the user selects from the list is inserted into the cell. Maybe he wants the list to be graphics which get inserted into the cell if selected. I don't think that can be done since pictures are not inserted into a cell.

    Hi Legare

You guessed correctly I would have liked to insert a graphic into the cell from a list. But as you state it is not possible.

My thanks to you and Rudi for your replies.

    Hi Hans

I have to create Cleaning schedules and I have to insert a symbol for a chemical, instead of copying and pasting I would like to have selected from a list.
    The symbols are all gifs.

    Thanks for your time,

    Braddy
