    IMPORTING TEXT FILES (Access 2000)

I copied a text file from a web site and saved it to a folder on drive C;. I can open it in Excel with no problem. When I try to Get External File in Access I get an error message that says the file has no data in it. Has anyone run across this type of situation?

Re: IMPORTING TEXT FILES (Access 2000)

If you want to import a file into Access, it must have a recognizable table structure. Excel doesn't have such a restriction. Perhaps you can clean up the file in Excel, save it as a workbook, and import that in Access.

Other than that, it is impossible for us to know the cause without knowing what the text file looks like.
