    Index bug with a table? (2003 SP1)

Is this a bug in Word? I get an error box saying "Word cannot update the index" when I try to update all fields of a document by doing ^A and F9.

You can reproduce it by making a new doc file with (1) any table [1x1 is ok], (2) any line with an index entry on it, and (3) a line requesting an index. Everything will be fine until you change the table properties from Text Wrapping - None to - Around. At that point you cannot update the index any more.

I couldn't find any mention of this behavior anywhere.

I can reproduce the problem in Word 2002, although not exactly. I get the error message under the following circumstances:
    - The selection starts inside a table, and
    - The selection contains an INDEX field.
The text wrapping setting doesn't matter, and Select All (Ctrl+A) is not the trigger; it's the start of the selection being in a table.

I get the same behavior that Hans mentioned in Word 2000. However, when I use Ctrl+A & then press F9, I can update the index even if the selection originally started in the table. However, if the table is the first thing in the document, then using Ctrl+A & F9 won't update the index.
