    Euro Sign!

    Hi all,
This is probably the dumbest question today, but it still eludes me!!!
On some keyboards, you will find the Euro Symbol, and a couple of other symbols positioned on the keyboard as a 3rd character on the key button. Obviously a person uses SHIFT to type the 2nd character; but how do you type the 3rd character, which would be that Euro sign, etc!!!!???? <img src=/S/blush.gif border=0 alt=blush width=15 height=15>

    Re: Euro Sign!

I'm not in front of a keyboard that has the Euro on it, but I assume from your answer that CTRL+ALT and the appropriate key with type the 3rd character?

    Re: Euro Sign!

On my layout I have 2 keys with 3 symbols, for both of them the Control+Alt+(appropriate key) works.

    Re: Euro Sign!

On a standard contemporary US layout keyboard, it is Ctrl+Alt+5 (5 on the standard keyboard, not on the numeric keypad).
In recent versions of Word, Ctrl+Alt+E generates the Euro symbol.

    Re: Euro Sign!

Ctrl Alt 5 doesn't seem to work for me - tried it in word and in outlook. Any other suggestions? Do I need a certain font installed? What about the pound (sterling money symbol) symbol?

Regarding the "special thanks to John Gray for his ... feedback", I have two comments:

    - what type of feedback was given?
    - cannot be the john gray i know because I couldn't see a picture of rebecca
(Location Australia, then UK, but now USA. Heart, outlook, attitude, etc always Australian)

    Re: Euro Sign!

I am now on a keyboard that has the Euro symbol and I pick up some strange behaviour???
In Word 2000, the combination CTRL+ALT+E types the Euro, but not when I type to this post, or other programs. CTRL+ALT+5 does not work anywhere.
Thanks 4 all the replies, I will use CTRL+ALT+E where I can. (Still just might strange!!!!)

    Rudi

    Re: Euro Sign!

Ctrl+Alt+E is specific to Word, it will not work in other applications.
Does Alt+0128 (use the numeric keypad) work for you?

    Re: Euro Sign!

Yes, thanks. I'll have to remember that ASCII combination though. Thanks Hans.
