AutoCorrect Bug in Forms is Back (2000/SP-3)

(Edited by Phil Rabichow on 25-Aug-04 14:44. edited to correct SR-3 to SP-3. Thanks, Pat.)
When Word 2000 was first released there was a bug with protected forms. When you typed a word that autocorrect replaced (e.g. teh with the), the corrected word disappeared altogether & left a space behind. The workaround at the time was to change the text form field properties to something other than unlimited. The bug was fixed in SR-1a.

However, I now find that it's come back. Can anyone with Word 2000 SP-2 or SP-3 check to see if they have this problem again?
    Thanks in advance,

I've been testing this with protected forms: I have Word2000 with SP3: autocorrect does not work at all in protected forms. which is a big nuisance.

Then you have a bigger problem than I do. What happens if you set your form field maximum length to something other than unlimited?

Was just going to post back - yes! If you unprotect, right click and set properties to unlimited, reprotect and then type autocorrect kicks in.

That's odd. The workaround was to set the Properties to something other than unlimited for autocorrect to work properly. Are you sure it works properly when you set it to unlimited?

Yes. I just read your post and tried it again with two of our other forms, right click, property set to unlimited. Protected form and made typo which was autocorrected. Do you have SP3?

Yes, I have SP-3. I mistakenly put SR-3 in the subject box & post ...I corrected that now in all the posts. I've even tried it when starting Word from the command line (winword.exe /a) & it makes no difference. Autocorrect operates, but the word disappears. Very strange.

Yes, that is very strange. I have 2002 at home and 2003 and 2000 at work. Will test again tomorrow if time permits with 2003. Will repost. BTW my OS at work for Word 2000 is WinNT SP6a and for Word 2003 is WinXP, just in case it may make a diff.

    Phil,

Was this issue resolved? I've had 2 questions in last 2 days with the same problem. I don't know for sure which SP they have; although I could check.
