    Auto Splash Screen (Access97 >)

I discovered that if you have a .bmp picture and an Access Database in the same folder, and they both have the same file name, ie StockDB.mdb and StockDB.bmp, the database uses that .bmp graphic as an automatic splash screen.

Is this just a fluke, or is this a valid method to create a splash screen. I do know that I can build splash screens as a form in access and program it to open and close when the DB opens, but why and how does this other method work????

It is a known feature, see for example The secrets of Access: part two on the Microsoft site. With the fast computers we have nowadays, the bitmap disappears so fast that it's hardly useful. A custom form offers much more control.

I have noticed that it literally flashes and disappears. I will stick to designing it.
