    graphics in Word2000

    Using Word2000 under Office 2000 -- how can the default be set to insert picture inline without the added step of "format/picture/inline"? How can I make "edit/paste special" default to "insert as picture"?

    You can get the Insert Picture dialog to default to inserting inline, by using the following macro to intercept the InsertPicture command (although, I thought the Insert Picture dialog already does default to inserting inline in Word 2000(?):

    Public Sub InsertPicture()
    With Dialogs(wdDialogInsertPicture)
    .FloatOverText = False
    End With
    End Sub

    It would seem that you should be able to use a similar strategy to control the Paste Special dialog, but it gets trickier: the options available in the Paste Special dialog change, depending on the nature of what's in the clipboard, and there doesn't appear to be a direct equivalent in code to the "insert as picture" option.

    Re: graphics in Word2000

    Thanks for your answer, Gary. Deb asked this question for me (in a hurry) and I didn't make myself entirely clear to her. I have a document containing 199 figures (charts inserted as objects from Excel). All put into the doc without regard for placement. In trying to "format object," when I bop "inline" the "object" goes inline but also mysteriously enlarges. Each page is supposed to have two figures. So, I cut it to the clipboard and "pasted special" as a picture (not necessary that they still be linked to Chart or Excel). They remained the proper size, but then I still had to format picture/layout/inline/OK - that's a lot of button bopping for 199 figures! <img src=/S/bummer.gif border=0 alt=bummer width=15 height=15> Each time "paste special" would default to "insert as Microsoft drawing." More button bopping. And, of course, you're right - Word 2000 does default to inline with "insert picture." But you see I didn't have that option! So, there really isn't a way for "paste special" to default to "picture, inline"? Also, would there be a macro to accomplish all my button bopping easily??
