    Saving a workbook (excel 2000)

I have a "master" workbook that I want various users to use. When opening it the first time, I want them to save it as another file so the "master" is not overwritten. How can I force the user to do this?

Save the workbook as an Excel template (.xlt) in a location available to all users.
Users can copy the template to their User Templates or Workgroup Templates folder; it will then be available in the File | New... dialog.
Alternatively, they can simply open the template from Windows Explorer. The default action for an .xlt file is to create a new workbook based on the template.
