Action buttons in Word (Word 2003)

Is there a way to put an Action button in Word (like you can in PowerPoint). I want a button on a form so that when users enter information, they can hit a Print button at the bottom, and Word will print the form to a specified network printer. I realize I'll have to put some macro code behind that, but have to figure out the "button" first.

Thanks in advance for any advice. - Sat.

View>Toolbars>Control Toolbox. You should find what you want there.

You can also check out macrobutton fields in the help.

As Rebel mentioned, you can add a button to the page using the Control Toolbox toolbar.
Select the command button and draw one up on the page.
Double click on it and between the sub and end sub statements put this line of code: ActiveDocument.PrintOut
It could also be useful to record the action of printing a document. While recording, specify the printer and other choices. Stop the macro and copy the recorded code inbetween the sub and end sub statements.

Re: Action buttons in Word (Word 2003)

Got the Control Toolbox open, and got my print button working great. Specified a network printer by using the VBS code: ActivePrinter = "servernameprintername"

Now, I'm running into problems saving the form. The requestor of this form wanted users to be able to fill out request information, hit a print button (which would print the request to his printer - which I got figured out), then hit a save button which would save the form to a certain network folder. I'm having trouble with the Save button because I'm not sure of the correct script. Tried ChangeFileOpenDirectory but didn't get good results when I typed in the network path. It's probably more simple that I'm making it. Also, I created this form as a .dot template, and when the users save the form, I would like it to be saved to this network with a unique name. Is there a way to pull information from one of the fields that they filled out and make it the saved file name?

    Humble thanks from this VBS beginner. <img src=/S/thankyou.gif border=0 alt=thankyou width=40 height=15>

Just a side note: Would it be easier to create a Web form and have it email the results to the person who needs to complete the form request? YYYYEEEEeeesss. But this is the way they want it, for some god-forsaken reason.
