Setting To header when using Bcc (6)

How do I set the text to appear in the To header when I use Bcc in both Outlook and Outlook EXpress?

For example, in Eudora, I can enclose stuff in parenthesis and that string appears as the To header, e.g.:

    To: (My Distribution List)

and the Bcc contains the actual list.

Eudora lets you put a nonfunctional e-mail address into the To space, or it creates an address on the fly that points back to you?

Ayup, Eudora allows you to put anything in the To line, enclosed in parenthesis.

I don't believe you can with Outlook/ OutlookExpress.
The 'usual' workround is to create (and add to your contacts or PAB) a dummy email address - "My Distribution List" - which resolves to yourself.

Won't Outlook and OE expand the address in the To header?

I guess I'll have try it.

Of course it will, but you didn't want the addresses to appear in the To field, you wanted them to appear in the BCC field. Because you cannot place arbitrary text in the To field, or should I say, Outlook won't send the message if it can't resolve it as an address, a workaround is needed. As noted above, the most common is to create an address book entry that contains a valid e-mail address (usually yours) but displays with text other than your name to give the impression that it is a list address.

(I assume OE works as Outlook does, but you should experiment. I know you will.)

I knew about that possibility, but that is not th esolution I was seeking, so I guess OE and Outlook cannot do the deed but Eudora can.
