Cell Corners and Shadows (2003)

Hi:

I'm formating a cell with the cell corners and shadows feature of 2003, but when I change the color,
it just stays black.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Can you describe the steps you are taking to accomplish this?

From experience, most things in FP that 'don't work' are down to the compatability settings - FP itself is preventing you from employing an effect that won't work in the browsers you have specified.

I don't have 2003, but in 2000/2002 it is set in Tools > Page Options > Compatability.

Meaning anything that is not Internet Explorer? This is one of the reasons I avoid Frontpage - too many proprietary things, even if it is really good as an editor. I gave up on FP and moved to DreamWeaver because Frontpage refuses to even let me edit pages without adding a bunch of crap to the directory structure.

I better just stop now before I start ranting too much...

Mark,
I have been playing with 2003 and I have NOT seen any added folders after using FP.

I to, did NOT like FP in the earlier days. Was given a copy of 2003 and MS has done a good job. It seems not to have all the "bloat" that was there before for starters.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Re: Cell Corners and Shadows (2003)

I decided to try out FP 2003 for an edit or two on a site I was developing, and it insisted on [sic] "adding information to make it a Frontpage web." Since it was a copy of the original, I let it go ahead...and then found all the _VTI_* folders added. Sheesh! I have always stayed away from Frontpage-proprietary features that required extensions on the web server, but even adding folders....grrrr...

I will say that I really like the way FP 2003 is designed. You can finally have a split view of the design and code on the same page!

The folders are hidden. On a local drive you can turn on visibility of hidden files and folders and see them. Not sure about when viewing a remote site through FP: folders probably are invisible.

Re: Cell Corners and Shadows (2003)

Hi Kate,

I've just been using corners and shadows myself. And I found that sometimes you have to click on the cell where you want the corners or shadows and then click on the image of the corner or shadow a second time for the change to take effect. Just play around with it and you might find what it takes for the changes to take place.
