Bookmarklets, Part II

Those of us using Netscape oft times have a problem with this board in that some of the screen elements overlap others. The solution has been to turn off Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) in our preferences. However, this can be an annoyance if you wish to enable style sheets for other sites.

If you read Bookmarklets, Part I, you know of the ability to assign snippets of JavaScript to the Personal Toolbar.

Here is the challenge: Does anyone know the JavaScript code for turning CSS on and off? If so, I can try to bookmarkletize it so that those of us who are affected by this problem can handle the problem with a one button toggle.

(Pessimistic footnote. Unlike VBScript, JavaScript was developed with some security in mind -- not merely as an afterthought. Therefore, JavaScript may be unable to change a browser's preferences as that may be a security hole.)

I've cracked the problem with Netscape here!
You no longer need to turn off stylesheets. I've put a trap in the code so it doesn't blow Netscape up any more.

This reply is a test and a thanks.

Your fix worked for me.

I hope you enjoy the Bookmarklets for other things, none the less.

I found a bookmarklet that does this. Ironically, it only works in IE, whereas the problem is only with NS. Here it is. Kill Stylesheets (If you use I.E. and want to take take advantage of it, just click on the link and drag it to you personal toolbar.

Glad the fix works for you. (I simply don't load the stylesheet if the Browser isn't IE!)

I will certainly be collecting a few Bookmarklets, too. They're a clever idea.
