    Saving graphic files (Outlook 2003)

For some reason when I try to save an animated .gif file that has been embedded within an e-mail, the only choice I am given is to save it as a .bmp file. I forwarded the mail to somone who uses Outlook Express and she was given the option of saving it as a .gif using Outlook Express. I've also had this problem when trying to save a .jpg or .gif from a web site. Again the only option I am given is to save it as a .bmp file. And yes, I do know that the file I am trying to save is a .gif or .jpg and not a .bmp. I've checked. And trhe file doesn't necessarily have to be an animated .gif.

Thanks for any suggestions you can give me.

Ah, animated GIFs. Check out this thread from last December for a couple of workarounds for saving them in their original format: Saving a GIF (Outlook 2002). Let us know what works best in Outlook 2003.

    Hi there,

Well, I tried the first way you suggested and that didn't work for me either. Never got to the second suggestion. I rarely find a need to save a graphic file that someone sends me. Normally they would come as an attachment. So it's just easier for me to send it to someone who uses Outlook Express and have them send it back. In the meantime I will pray a little prayer to the MS God and hope that he comes up with a fix for this.

    Thanks,

    Marilyn

I just forward the email to a account at MyWay.com and open it there. This is a webmail type of account

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
