What's the best PRINTED PC magazine?

What is the best PRINTED PC magazine?
What's the best FREE PRINTED PC magazine?
What's the best NOT FREE PRINTED PC magazine.

Let's keep this separate from a discussion of ONLINE magazines.

Depends on your perspective!

Best Printed PC magazine - I vote for MacWorld UK (but John G wouldn't)
Best Free Printed magazine - don't know, not very common in
Best not-free ... - Isn't this a duplicate question.

I believe that most folkes distinguish between PCs and Macs.
I meant to limit thread to PCs.

I receive eWeek (free in exchange for too much information), but it is not really a PC magazine in the same sense as the ones for regular people. It's much more interested in enterprise devices and software, Linux politics, and expressing views on things like outsourcing. When I was taking InfoWorld, I liked the writing a bit better than eWeek (well, back then it was PCWeek). Gee, maybe I should see if I qualify for a free subscription.

I dunno, I still like PC Magazine. I guess it's just tradition, I'm sure PC World would be just as good. I wouldn't base my buying or deployment decisions soleky on it, but

For Windows, Windows NT magazine (which has had several name changes - I think it's now called Windows IT Pro ??).

I would be interested in a good magazine that covered the Linux World, Handheld & Traveling devices, and Windows related scripting and programming. (Well, 3 good magazines).

PC Mag seems to still be on the downside of the hill.
They really should get rid of Dvorak.

T's been several years since I've looked at PC World.

A few years ago, I had an opportunity to get a free subscription.
Initially decided against his, as it's not free if I do not think I'll have to look at the critter.
Some time later, I changed my mind, but had misplaced the offer.

I've finally given up on PC Magazine.
I'll give PC World a 2-year try.

Re: What's the best PRINTED PC magazine?

I gave up buying magazines about 5 years ago as I was fed up with buying ones that had 500 pages, 10 of which were of interest the rest adverts

For the real beginner/computer enthusiast there is a fine magazine called ComputerActive (All one word) which has really good, step by step guides to do things like change a sound card or the like. Reviews on Digicams and the like. Otherwise Computer Weekly was a magazine of choice at work.

Ah, Jerry, now Personal Computer World and PC Pro are half the size they used to be, because most of the adverts have gone. You just have to rip out the Acer double-page, thick-paper, spread so you can read the left-hand and right-hand pages without infuriation!

Not being the sharpest knife in the box I find "ComputerActive" up my street and very down to earth with it's Articles; Workshops; Tips & Tricks section; Readers' legal problems column; and No Problem (Q & A page.) Out fortnightly in the UK. S Fox.
