You can't boot with the ERD. It is not designed to do that.

To recover your 2000 system, you will need to make the four boot floppies, or boot from the Windows 2000 CD (if you have a bootable CD ROM drive). Select Repair and follow the prompts. Windows 2000 setup will ask you for the ERD when it is ready, and if you don't have it it will search the hard drive.

Sorry to hear that your experiences with CD Creator are not good - I have had no problem running the software on my system. When you say that you have a corrupt boot sector, what steps did you take to arrive at that determination?

    Re: Emergency repair disk

I got the blue screen of total death. Win2000 said the boot sector was corrupted. I tried to boot with the CD, after changing set-up to enable booting that way, but I wasn't able to repair the damage.
I have heard of others who are using Easy CD Creator 5, but the only test to see if it will work on your machine is to install it. No way!! I tried to install CD Creator again as the 1st program installed after Win2K. (It has a module called Take Two that makes back ups of the entire HD, which would have been very handy for a totally clean machine). Same result, corrupted boot sector. Suggest one and all that this program be given a very wide miss on Win2K. There are posts appearing everywhere about this problem.
    Thanks anyway. I

    Re: Emergency repair disk

You are correct that this is a problem that's affecting a lot of people...you might be interested in this little news snippet from the LockerGnome:

If that's not current, look at the issue from May 11. It won't solve the problem but it's an interesting piece on the problem you mentioned.
