Has anyone tried Media Player 10?

Curious to know if anyone has been brave enough to try Windows Media Player 10? I have downloaded the setup file, but am feeling nervous about installing it?

Is it like DirectX where it is a one way install, without hope of un-installing it if there are problems?

And how well does it really work?

Not that interested in their music store, but I know that soon I won't be able to watch videos because the codecs have all changed again and Version 9 doesn't support the new ones.

Thom,
There is some discussion regarding MP10 starting in <post#=404797>post 404797</post#>
I tried the beta version a while back and had some problems with it, so unloaded it until the final came out. Now I will have to give it a try.

Re: Has anyone tried Media Player 10?

Thom,

I did download and install Media Player 10. So, far no problems. WRT your question about uninstalling, it appears that a) you cannot uninstall, but can revert to an earlier MP player. More information can be found at the Media Player FAQ site.

The one feature I have not find yet in MP 10 is the Radio Tuner that was in MP 9. Perhaps my eyes are failing as usual.

To access the radio tuner in WMP 10:
Click on Guide - this opens the web page http://www.WindowsMedia.com which includes a link to the radio tuner.

Bob,
There is a 'Radio' button on the right side of WMP between Music & Movies.

That list, which is known as the digital media mall, is determined by the online stores available in your location. At the release of WMP 10 most of the World has no online stores available. The image shown by Dave is for the United States. This is what I get, clicking Online Stores states there are currently no online stores in my location.

Now this is getting frustrating. The only options I have on the taskbar are "Now Playing, Library, Rip, Burn, Sync & Guide".

Thanks Tony. Thought I was either going blind or senile (or both).

Re: Has anyone tried Media Player 10?

Tony,

I was eventually able to get to the "new" version of Radio Tuner. However, it is very limited compared to what was available in MP9. None of my C&W stations are available!!!

The other thing is that the Guide has no offerings for us Canucks. Really strange, what with NAFTA!!!

Cheers, Bob

Re: Has anyone tried Media Player 10?

Not for us Canucks... see my reply to Tony. Gonna have to call on the NAFTA folks!!!

Re: Has anyone tried Media Player 10?

Bob,
Bring up the Guide, then click on International Guides, then click the Radio link (just below the taskbar), then in the next window, click on Radio Tuner. Should be able to search for C&W there. Very intuitive isn't it?
