Missing replies

Yesterday (Friday) and today (Saturday) I have not been immediately receiving a copy of message(s) replying to my comments. I checked my settings on The Lounge and they are set correctly and the e-mail address on record is OK. It should be mentioned that the e-mail packets compiled at 1:00am, do have all the appropriate messages.

Is anyone else having a like problem?

Now, I was having some issues with my ISP as recorded in <!post=Post 405058,405058>Post 405058<!/post>. Thought I would check here before calling them.

Cheers, Bob
Regards,

Bob,
No problems of THAT kind here either. Still waiting to see if my "no access" problems to the Lounge are over or not. So far, so good.

Re: Missing replies

Thanks Stuart and Bob,

I have just changed my e-mail address of record on The Lounge to another account. Lets see if that one works. If it does, then I know it is my ISP and relates to yesterday's ISP problems.

Thanks again guys...
Regards,
Bob

Re: Missing replies [UPDATE]

OK, we can rule out The Lounge as a possible suspect. I just changed my e-mail address of record on The Lounge and have just received 2 replies from comments in another forum.

So, it is off to call Sympatico to find out what the <img src=/w3timages/censored.gif alt=censored border=0> they have done!!! <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
Regards,

Bob

Do they have spam filtering set up?

Re: Missing replies [UPDATE]

John,

Not sure if their new servers (associated with MSN) have an outright spam filter outside of the user's control.

There is a user controlled filter that provides 5 levels of acceptance ranging from no rules applied (level 1) to extreme (level 5). There is no definition available to the user as to what specific rules are applied to levels 2 through 5. Level 1 allows everything to pass.

The concept with the new servers is that all mail stays on the servers just like a netmail account. One can specify that something like Outlook is to be the default e-mailer in which case a bridge is built from the server to the user's system. The mail stays on the server until the user either a) reads, stores, deletes mail on the server or invokes a send/receive command from their PC e-mail program at which time the mail is downloaded and the netmail account is purged... except for the contents of the junk e-mail folder on the server. Anything classified as junk e-mail stays on the server and cannot be brought down to the user's PC. The user does have the ability to go into the junk e-mail folder and reclassify the material by placing in the whitelist.

I had previously reported in another thread that I had 5 e-mail accounts with Sympatico and when I signed up for MSN Premium service, they moved three of the accounts and lost 2. One of the 3 accounts was my prime account and the one that was on record here in The Lounge. After the sign-up, any replies to my messages were not coming through... yet the e-mail packets in the wee hours did come through without problems. What I did yesterday was to change my address of record on The Lounge to one of the 2 accounts that had not been moved to the new servers. Then the reply messages flowed. So, the problems are tied to the new MSN servers.

Bob
