    .patterncolorindex vs .colorindex (2002 SP2)

As the subject says, I can't quite figure out what the difference is between .patterncolorindex & .colorindex.

    Can anyone enlighten me?

Re: .patterncolorindex vs .colorindex (2002 SP2)

The PatternColorIndex : Returns or sets the color of the interior pattern as an index into the current color palette.
The ColorIndex : Returns or sets the color of the border, font, or interior. The color is specified as an index value into the current color palette.
The difference is the pattern color verses the color of Font, Borders and the Interior of a cell...Its just a difference in the objects properties.!

But what is the difference between the color of the interior and that of the interior pattern?

When I use Ctrl-1, where do I see the 2 different properties to set?

If you have a pattern that is a diagonal stripes. The interior.colorindex is the background and the patterncolorindex is the color of the stripes.

If you set the "pattern" you can change its color.

See the attachment. If you format a chart or a drawing object, you can fill it with a solid colour, or a texture or a pattern or a picture. Its the pattern that contain these 2 properties you are querying. You have a foreground and background colour!
