    Access Tab Order (2003)

I have a number of controls on a form, I try using the properties to adjust the tab order, access keeps assigning random numbers to the control ie tab control 6 will turn into 37 when you reorder it to 5.

Is there a maximum number of controls on an access form.

With the form in design view, choose Tab Order from the View menu. Setting the tab order using the list in that dialog may work for you.

(Note: I have Access 2002 and am blithely assuming Access 2003 has the same dialog.)

Number of controls and sections you can add over the lifetime of the form or report = 754 is taken directly from Access Help (Access Specifications)

I've noticed that you can't use the Property Setting to set the Tab Index if the control is on a tab control.

    Re: Access Tab Order (2003)

It is possible to set tab order using the indexes but it requires starting from the highest index and working backward. When you change an index number to something that already has been assigned, the rest of the controls have to be reshuffled. Tab controls have their own tab order for the pages and controls they contain, so it's easiest to use the View menu and select Tab Order from there. The tab order you see is context sensitive. If you are on a tab control, you will see the order for that control. Each tab page also has a tab order for the controls bound to it, but controls on the parent form which show through on the tab pages may give you problems, since they aren't actually on the tab control.
