    Trouble with new hard drive

    Hi everyone,
I have been getting a lot of help through the forums lately and I really appreciate it. I was running out of space on both of my hard drives (XP Pro Sp 1) and decided to bite the bullet and buy a 120 gig WD drive. I wasn't sure I could install this but I did. I made a copy of the original C: drive on the new drive with the software that came with it. Then I removed original C: and installed new C: and reinstalled old G. I was amazed when it booted; but that's just when the problems began.
Problems: Ran sfc /scannow because I am getting messages that files are missing. It says it is complete but I still get the messages: <font color=red> unregmp2.exe entry point not found and dimport.exe not found. I also got "procedure entry point GetIUMS could not be located in the dll library MSDART.DLL"</font color=red> which is what prompted me to run scf /scannow. I finally got <img src=/S/hairout.gif border=0 alt=hairout width=31 height=23> and re-installed XP Pro over XP Pro (meaning not a new installation more like a repair!)
On top of that, the new drive size shows itself to be 111 gigs not 120 like it should be <font color=red> and </font color=red> my Outlook account disappeared. Everyone else's e-mails are still there - my account had to be started over. I need those e-mails. What a <img src=/S/stupidme.gif border=0 alt=stupidme width=30 height=30> way to learn how to do this.
    Please take pity on me . . . <img src=/S/please.gif border=0 alt=please width=31 height=23> <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15> <img src=/S/dizzy.gif border=0 alt=dizzy width=15 height=15> <img src=/S/disappointed.gif border=0 alt=disappointed width=15 height=15>
Oh, and in addition to that, the Windows Installer keeps popping up (just for a second or so...)

What exactly does this copying software say it can do??

Regarding Outlook, your mail file (something.PST) became detached from your account profile, or your account profile got deleted. However, most likely, your mail file is still around somewhere. Typical places include cocuments and SettingsusernameLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook, but a search of the entire new and old drive for *.pst files probably would be a good idea. Once you locate it, you either can swap it into Outlook in place of your blank new file, or add it as a second file and copy stuff over as needed. There are threads on the Outlook board that give more details on this process of, essentially, changing computers.

    This most likely is a matter of definitions. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15> See <post#=401702>post 401702</post#> for more details.

t would be a lot easier to keep the old drive and add the 2nd drive to the system (if you have an available drive bay).
