    PuTTY vs other telnet programs

What are you thoughts and comments about PuTTY and other telnet programs?
My Webserver provider suggetsts the use of PuTTY as a SSH Client.

I've used PuTTY a few times - it's worked just fine for me...

I've used bog standard telnet and hummingbird, Putty is a far easier and flexible tool than either of these.

I've just been told that a particular website we send data to requires PSFTP instad of ordinary FTP, and when you look at the internal Help it says:

PuTTY Secure File Transfer (SFTP) client, Release 0.53b

Are you talking about the same thing?

I've just had to write a PSFTP BATch file, which is going to be scheduled/run on one server. The data files are going to be uploaded from another (source) server to an even more remote (target) server which doesn't belong to us. Previously, it used to work from a single (and different) source server. (I hope I haven't lost you here!).

Needless to say, being a secure animal, PSFTP objects to this change. Now I have to find out how to get it to work by the weekend, when the source server is moving 30 miles (to the centre of Birmingham, since you ask!) and the target server is staying put, as far as I know....

Nothing like impending redundancy to concentrate the minds of your colleagues to get you to do some work for them!
