    Adding technique

    Some time back, I saw someone on TV demonstrating a "better" technique for adding a column of numbers together. Instead of adding units, then tens, then hundreds... carrying digits as you go, he started from the leftmost column and worked his way right.

    Whatever he did, it made the whole operation look so much easier to all on the program. Does anybody know this technique?

    Thanks Dennis. I'm not even sure if that was what this guy did. I only recall that he made things look so much easier to his audience than the traditional right -> left method. Maybe it was this - after all, how many different techniques could there be?
