    UpdateLinks (Excel 2000)

    I want the user to NOT get the Update Links? question when a particular work book is opened.
    Post # 260187 suggested some code but I can't make it work.
    I have tried the following code:

    Sub Workbook_Open()
    Application.DisplayAlerts = False (with and without this)
    Application.AskToUpdateLinks = False
    End Sub
    I restore the setting in a Before_Close event - and that seems to work.
    There has to be a simple answer to this!

    Re: UpdateLinks (Excel 2000)

    The links are updated BEFORE the workbook open macro is triggered, so you can not do it like this.

    You can have the user change the option
    Tools - options - edit
    uncheck "ask to update links"

    and they will not be asked to update links.

    If it is a particular file, you can create a blank workbook and add this code to the thisworkbook object:

    <pre>Private Sub Workbook_Open()
    Workbooks.Open "c:MyPathmyFIlename.xls", 0
    ThisWorkbook.Close
    End Sub</pre>

    change the path and filename for the file you want to open.

    The user will open this file, and then the macro will open the other file without updating links
