    Pre 1900 dates (Office 2002)

I want to enter dates prior to 1900, then sort the workbook based on the date column, but Excel doesn't appear to recognise dates prior to 01/01/1900
Is there a workaround that will allow me to do that?

    Hi David

You could try the John Walkenbach extended date functions add-in

Another solution is to input the dates as numbers in ISO format (ie YYYYMMDD): that would sort correctly.

Thanks to both replies - I'd come across the Excel add-in just after posting - sods law
The ISO solution is ingenious - I should have thought of that too as I use it for filing
    Thanks both
