    Sygate Personal Firewall

I install Sygate Personal Firewall yesterday on my Windows Pro XP SP2.
Since then I get messages that NDIS and NT Kernel are trying to send something out every 10 a 20 min.
What are these two programs and should I allow or block them?

Two times just after rebooting I also have a Application Hijacking. The detail in the log file say:
    Application Hijacking has been detected
The application: C:WINDOWSsystem32userinit.exe try to launch another application: C:WINDOWSexplorer.exe

    Should I remove userinit.exe?

    Re: Sygate Personal Firewall

    Francois,
    Don't delete userinit.exe.

Userinit.exe is a key process in the Windows operating system. On boot-up it manages the different start up sequences needed, such as establishing network connection and starting up the Windows shell.

I looked in the applications list in my Sygate and there is no mention of any of these progs asking for permission to send.
For now I would block them to see if anything complains or doesn't work.
Do you have anything set for auto updating?
I would DEFINITELY run Adaware & Spybot to see if they come up with anything.

    Re: Sygate Personal Firewall

    Bob,

I run Adaware and Spybot once a day.
Windows Update is set to notify but not install or update.
    Norton Life update is enable.
This is what I have in my Sygate
I will block the two and see what happen.
    Thanks
    Francois
